Thank you so much for this website. I have been reading on it since yesterday for a few hours, and can appreciate the advice given. I am on the look-out for a loose marquise diamond. I want to build an e-ring for around 2500-3000. Any advice on which diamond to pick? Second question. According to your advice it most often makes sense to purchase a diamond with good cut, but low clarity. Would it make any sense to purchase a I1 diamond for example, and submit it to clarity enhancement (Yehuda process)? Do you have any idea what that would cost, and how could I go about doing so?
That is not a good idea. Any diamond that is a good bet for yehuda treatment is usually treated before it gets to the retail level. That means the I1s you are looking at now were already rejected for that process.
A big change of plans over here. I will be going with a round diamond. Budget for diamond alone $2000. I found this one and think it is a good buy, what do you think? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-184760?a_aid=dmnd1357 Thanks!
Looks good to me.
I am looking at a Signature diamond from BGD : https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.640-h-si1-round-diamond-ags-c-104062893054?a_aid=y&chan=x How would the cut grade of “Ideal” from AGS, compare to an Excellent from GIA. Also should I be willing to pay extra for their signature diamonds, or is it just a marketing ploy?
BGD’s Signature are far superior in cut to a typical GIA XXX. We love their diamonds as we say throughout our site. I would ask them to upload the image asap.
Thank you Mike, I asked for the pictures, and when I do purchase the diamond I will let them know that I was guided to this purchase by diamonds.pro.
Sounds good. Let me know when you get the images and I’ll be happy to comment.
