Hi there,
Thanks to your excellent site I have been introduced to the wonderful world of diamonds.
After taking all your comments and information into account i found the following diamond on James Allen.
I will be setting it in a 18K yellow gold engagement ring.
There is however one thing i am not sure about and that is the inclusion. On the certificate it says it is an VS2 however it is quite obvious under the virtual enhancement.
The James Allen web site says that all VS 2 are eye clean but i am still not sure.
What would your feedback be?
That diamond is not eye-clean. I’m curious where JA says that about VS2s. All VS2s are not eye-clean, which is precisely why you need to buy from a site with high quality photos. There are plenty of eye-clean Sis as well. You need to make a selection on a stone by stone basis.
I would recommend this diamond for you instead:
Hi Michael ,
Thanks for your reply.
With respect to where james allen says that it is on their FAQ page:
-What does the term “eye clean” mean?
“Eye-Clean” is a term used to describe a diamond that is clean to an unaided eye in a face-up position from a distance of 8 to 10 inches. Diamonds of VS2 or higher in quality will always be eye-clean. Diamonds of Si1, Si2 and I1 need to be visually inspected to determine whether any inclusions are visible from the top. We can inspect any diamond at no charge.
So good to know that this is maybe not exactly true. I will also request from them an inspection and see what they come back with.
On another note, can diamonds be up at multiple websites? I found the exact same GIA code at another site called Renesim.
Lastly what is your opinion on a K diamond in a yellow gold ring will the yellow tint still be significant?
I will actually contact JA about that quote.
I think a K color will be fine in a yellow gold setting.
It is possible for the diamond to be listed on multiple sites. JA has a direct relationship with that vendor and guarantees its availability. That other site takes feeds from wholesale feeds and lists them on their site. They can not guarantee availability and don’t have a working relationship with all those vendors.
