Hello there. I am very impressed with your web site and it is honestly the only tool I am going to use in deciding what truly I want to buy. I need help though in choosing a perfect diamond. My budget is kind of big. I would prefer to spend somewhere between 7 and 8 thousand. But am willing to go to 9 or 10 thousand with setting. I plan to use a platinum setting but not really sure if that is a must or if I can get away with white gold being either 14kt or 18kt (not too sure on pros and cons). The one thing I know is my future fiancé prefers a halo style. Through my research I have been trying to get to 1.50 kts for the diamond or at least close to it. Not really sure how to determine what size I should get honestly. I just want something beautiful for her that she will be super proud to show off. In her life she has never had anything really premiere as far as jewelry is concerned. Thanks in advance for any time you can dedicate to my cause!
I’d be happy to help. What shape are you looking for?
Thank you mike for your response.
As far as the shape is concerned I am leaning toward the round shape. I was debating on cushion but I believe I read round has more “sparkle” factor? Definitely round sir.
If you can stretch your budget, go with this one:
If not, go with this one:

Ira recommends J+ for platinum settings. I prefer to err on the side of caution with 1.50ct+ and recommend I color.
If you are in the US, you can order the J and see how it looks. JA offers free return shipping, so may as well try to save the extra money. Most of the time the J will look fine.
What do you think?
I think I’m with you mike. I was looking to stay on the side of H color. I would consider I if it can get me closer to that 1.5 carat. For considerations to my wallet I may have to drop the carat to 1.33 to 1.40 which I still think is a decent size. I guess what I’m looking for is the biggest carat with a color of H (maybe I) and hoping for VS2 but will accept SI1 or SI2 (after reading your site). Thank you once again for your time and help.
This is the diamond I would recommend for you:
