First a compliment; your website is amazing! Straightforward, easy to follow, and very helpful to the average guy like me.
Secondly, I’m looking for at least one carat, a higher grade if excellent cut, H, VS2. I am currently looking at the following 3 on James Allen. Seems as though there is a big jump to a slightly nicer stone. Any advice you can give?

Higher % of depth means that most of the diamond’s weight is in its depth, not at the top which leads to a smaller diamond and the light won’t refract as it should. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend it.

I really like the cut on 8792142, it just seems to make that one look very pretty, almost like a higher grade diamond. Anything you can show me that has an almost perfect cut like that but gets me a maximum value? How would this compare?
8577290 – will the small inclusion below the face be visible to the naked eye?
7919052 has a nicer cut that I like. Will the medium fluorescence have an impact on the look of this diamond at all? Very nice price.
1) Even if the hearts and arrows are perfect, we think the diamonds we select according to our criteria are very bright and brilliant too. More important is to check the cert and have the right depth %, table %, crown angles, etc. But of course, if you like that diamond because of the black pattern, it’s alright.
2) Bear in mind those videos are extremely magnified – I suggest zooming out to 10x and checking the diamond. I think all those diamonds are eye-clean.
3) For J-H color, you can get diamonds with none, faint and medium fluorescence. The medium fluorescence may help the diamond look a tad whiter. In case of G-D stones, it’s better to avoid medium or strong fluorescence as it may cause a hazy/milky look (https://www.diamonds.pro/education/fluorescence/).
Perfect. I went with 7919052. Beautiful diamond for the price. Platinum solitaire setting. I think it’s going to look great.
