Hi there,
I am looking for an emerald cut diamond 1.2 to 1.5ct. I have found 3 stones from James Allen that I think would work.
I am looking at a solitaire or pave setting.
Unfortunately, none of the diamonds you sent me would work. The H IF has a very strong black windowing (you need to avoid these black diamonds at all times) and the two I IFs would have a yellow hue in any white gold/platinum/rose gold setting (I’m assuming you’re not going to use a yellow gold solitaire setting with yellow gold prongs, right?). Moreover, one of them is certified by the IGI lab that’s less reliable than GIA.
I found this one that’s absolutely gorgeous:

Yes. I like it. I have added to my saved settings and it looks great.
Next question, would you think that a GIA IF is necessary? Would a say VVSI or VVS2 with good color work? I just want something that is eye clean and not gaudy.
I’m glad you like it. It would look amazing in a pave setting.
IF is definitely not necessary to have a beautiful diamond, but if you are familiar with how JA’s inventory looks like, the diamonds are in no particular order there (I always search by price). So you can end up with an IF that’s cheaper than a VS1 or VVS. As long as the diamond is eye-clean, I don’t pay attention to what clarity grade it has, but what matters is having a clean, symmetrical and good-looking diamond.
Final question, are the ring settings at JA of good quality, the prongs, ring and pave quality. I don’t want to have a superb diamond in a mediocre setting.
We’ve never had any issues with the quality of their settings. The craftsmanship is excellent and the melee diamonds are always white and eye-clean. We’ve tested them many times and have always been happy.
Thanks and just to let you know, I have purchased the diamond you recommended earlier. Thanks for your help.
That’s great news! I’m glad you liked my recommendation so much.
