Hi,
I’m looking to buy an engagement ring for my girlfriend and I need some help picking a diamond.
After reading several articles on your website I’ve selected a few round diamonds with the following characteristics:
– Carat: 1.3
– Cut: excellent
– Clarity: VS2
– Colour: I
Could you let me know what you think of the diamonds listed below? I want to make sure the diamond I buy is eye clean.
As I live in the UK, it seems Blue Nile would be cheaper than James Allen, given the 20% VAT is included in their prices and they ship from Ireland.
Blue Nile is definitely a better option for you, even because they have an office in Dublin which makes everything easier and faster for any future service and maintenance.
These two diamonds from them look great:
Blue Nile LD12059729
Blue Nile LD12216988
The first one has strong fluorescence which usually causes a hazy/milky look in daylight. https://www.diamonds.pro/education/fluorescence/
Can you tell me what style setting (solitaire, pave/side stone, halo) and metal (yellow/white gold, platinum) you’re thinking of getting? I just want to make sure the I color will look alright.
In terms of the setting, I am thinking of getting a yellow gold pavé or solitaire:
Petite Micropavé Diamond Engagement Ring
Petite Solitaire Engagement Ring
Sounds good. If you decide on the pavé setting, the I color diamonds will look perfect.
If you choose a solitaire in yellow gold, you can easily go down to K+ since the yellow gold will make the I color slightly warmer anyways. This one would be my recommendation:
Blue Nile LD13169838
Great, thank you!
Let me know which diamond you ended up with in the end.
Thanks a lot for your help. I got Blue Nile LD12059729 with the pavé setting.
That’s great news!
