Hi,
I am looking to purchase a diamond to have set in a 18k yellow gold setting/band. A solitaire setting.
So was considering going for a colour K as apparently, the potential yellow tint is showing a lot less against a gold ring?
The diamond in question is a 2.07 carat brilliant round diamond, SI1 with excellent cut. Fluorescence is medium.
I was also wondering if having it set with white gold prongs would be advised against? As I am thinking the prongs will make the diamond look smaller if they are gold. But then if I have them white gold maybe it will make the diamond look yellowish against the white?
Much appreciate your advice.
Is the stone you’re looking at GIA or AGS certified? If so, can you please send me the number of the cert? I need to see the overall specifications in order to give you a well-informed feedback.
Thank you for the quick reply.
No, it’s HRD certified only.
Thank you for the info. HRD is a weak lab and we do not recommend them.
Since you’re going to use a solitaire style yellow gold setting with white prongs, I suggest looking for a J+ color grade. Do you want to see my suggestion, too?
Yes please do, thanks.
OK, Here’s my suggestion of a diamond with the quality I’d recommend:
It’s very well cut, eye-clean and going to look colorless.

Thanks for this. This is a great diamond and just about our budget (was going to spend no more than £7000)!
It’s been my pleasure helping you.
