Hi – I am looking to potentially purchase a radiant cut diamond, H, VS2 or better, between 4.0 and 4.5 carats. My budget is up to $65K. Based on what I’ve read I’ve found a diamond I would like your opinion on. It’s on James Allen’s website:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/radiant-cut/4.34-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-sku-5091270?a_aid=dmnd1357
I would love your thoughts on it and am open to suggestions.
…
Also found one at Blue Nile that I would like to look at as a comparison in addition to anything you would recommend.
Blue Nile LD09684031
You found the best two options out there! I can’t find anything else that is square and within your budget or at least close to it.
If you like a square shape, then go with the Blue Nile one. But also notice that it’s significantly smaller than the JA one (on the other hand, the JA one is 3k over your budget, so that’s worth considering as well).
Both look fantastic and you can’t go wrong with either one. To me, it feels that right now it’s a matter of your preference – shape over size.
Do you have an opinion on fluorescence? The JA has medium. I think I read somewhere that it won’t come into play until I buy a D-F color but would love your thoughts.
Al,so do you have any advice on prongs? It seems to me in some photos that you lose the beveled edges when seeing a radiant ring in a setting which ends up making it look more square to my eye.
Thank you!
Medium fluorescence isn’t an issue on H+ colors. It actually makes a diamond look a bit whiter. It’s starting to be an issue on D-G and it’s better to avoid it.
Prongs can have that effect, yes. But that usually happens on smaller diamonds. I don’t think you have to worry about it with your diamond.
Thank you!. FYI I committed to purchase the JA diamond yesterday.
Thanks again for your help!
Sounds great!
