Hi,
I’ve had a good read around various sites and you’re advice seems much different.
I saw a lady today local to me who was pushing D-E colour, excellent cut etc, saying to go small, so very different!
The question is I’, looking for a diamond for an engagement ring, so no real desire (or hope!) that it will ever be sold. It will be in a custom made solitaire setting, I want something eye clean and potentially eye catching in size (though not austere and showy).
The budget is ideally up to £3,000 any less a bonus – Can you help pick a diamond?
That is a classic salesmen bs. D/E color is way more than what’s necessary for a simple solitaire setting. You can go with an I or a J color and it is going to look colorless: https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color/
I like these options for you:
Blue Nile LD10010059
They are beautifully cut, eye-clean and all of them will be very brilliant.
What do you think?
That’s really helpful! I’d been looking at the same type of diamonds, but not seen any as clear as these at these price points.
I’m torn between the .80ct and .90ct solely based on price. In your opinion is the size/impressiveness of the diamond significant at these sizes when set on something like these –
Petite Nouveau Six Claw Solitaire Engagement Ring
Classic Four Claw Solitaire Engagement Ring
Thanks for the advice so far, you’ve probably taken a good few hours searching through diamonds away for me.
I’m glad you like my recommendations. Generally, the difference between a 0.8 and a 0.9ct diamond is not noticeable, you’d have to put the two of them side by side.
Unfortunately, I’m not really able to help you with the question about size/impressiveness, it’s completely subjective.
Thanks!
I think I’m going to take the 0.90 ct diamond.
That’s great news!
