Hello,
I have been using your website a lot to choose a diamond and already made a selection but I would like a professional eye to take a look at it. Could you help?
Shape: oval
Budget: $3.100 max
Color: E
Clarity : VS1 but open to VS2
Carat: 0,9
Flexible for the other aspects even though I have been warned to watch for fluorescence as well since I request such high color.
It’s true that for diamonds with high color grades, you should avoid strong and medium fluorescence. None or faint fluorescence is fine.
Unfortunately, $3.1k is a bit low for a decent 0.9ct E-color diamond. The largest recommendable options I found were these two:

Blue Nile LD13811693
The price for a 0.9ct would be in the $4k+ range.
What about these two?

This diamond has a medium fluorescence which is a big problem on such a high color. It might make it look hazy/milky.

This one doesn’t have a good-looking bow-tie (it’s on the stronger side) and it’s also rounder than what a proper oval diamond should be. The ideal L:W ratio is between 1.35-1.45.
If you look at the real measurements, you can see that my previous recommendations are not that much smaller and they both look great and have no red flags in the certificates.
I finally placed an order yesterday.
I followed your advice and bought shy a 0.8 carat but I went for this one instead.

Can you tell me if from your professional advise it looks better than your
initial recommendation and if the $200 price difference is worth it?
I like it but the GIA certificate indicates a lot of inclusions. Not sure if it matters as the clarity is pretty good.
If you still think your recommendation below is better for the price I will cancel and reorder with it.

This diamond is eye-clean (the inclusions wouldn’t be an issue), but to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the black windowing on the sides. It’s up to you, but personally, I find the E VS1 much prettier.
I had issues with the order and I am finally ready to proceed however I found this stone very similar to what you recommended.

Do you recommend going for it or stick with the one below that you chose:

I’m not a huge fan of the bow-tie on this one. It’s not the worst, but I still prefer my recommendation where the bow-tie is more subtle.
Ok, thank you very much!
