Dear sir/madam,
I’m looking for a princess cut diamond to make an engagement ring. I found the information on your website helpful and educational. Now I’ve been searching on Blue Nile for a while and narrowed it down to three loose diamonds.
Could you kindly give me some advice on these three diamonds? Here are the links:
Blue Nile LD13414930
Blue Nile LD13301400
Blue Nile LD13349580
Any advice and help are much appreciated!
Blue Nile LD13414930
I wouldn’t recommend this one as it has a feather in the top left corner. This may increase the risk of chipping the diamond.
Blue Nile LD13301400
This one is gorgeous.

I’m not a fan of the inclusion in the middle, it might be noticeable in real life.
Thank you so much for your kind advice, that’s really helpful.
I’m kind of in a dilemma between the two 1.1ct…
As you mentioned, one with an inclusion in the middle (seems only noticeable at lower view angle, but still risk of being noticeable in real life), the other one seems to be clean in the video clip. But I have a feeling it’s less sparkly than the other one? Or it’s because of the lighting in the video?
What’s your opinion on the possible light performance of these two?
Blue Nile focuses on the technical side of the diamonds in their photos, not the brilliance. The brilliance is caused by the cut parameters that you can find in the cert. It doesn’t matter that one of the diamonds looks “less sparkly” than the other. That’s not important there. The LD13301400 is gorgeously cut and would have a lot of brilliance in real life. It’s an excellent option. May I just ask what style setting you want to put it into?
Thank you very much for the detailed information. I think I’ll go for this diamond.
I’m planning to put it into a platinum solitaire ring. Guess I colour should be okay, right?
I color works very well with a platinum ring, there wouldn’t be any yellowness. The diamond I suggested is an excellent choice, it would make an amazing ring.
Many thanks!
My pleasure.
