Hello – I am comparing Blue Nile to a local jeweler and would like your help choosing diamonds from Blue Nile.
I’m trying to stay as close to 10k total as I can and the setting is $600 for a 3-stone ring. I’d like the center as large as possible and the sides of course not too small so it doesn’t look disproportionate.
The local place is offering a 1.5ct SI2 J and excellent cut. I’d buy local if all things were equal but feel I can do better online I just am not confident picking the best stones within budget.
Help is greatly appreciated as I’m under a time crunch and more confused than ever.
If the side stones are J color as well, then you can get a J center. But because they usually are G-H and not certified, I+ is recommended so the center stone doesn’t look yellowish compared to them.
Are you purchasing the setting from the local jeweler or would you like to see diamonds and settings from Blue Nile.
Also, do you want the setting in white gold?
This is the setting I’d like to use and I’m looking for 1.5 center and sides to be somewhere around .5ct each. I’m mostly looking for help with specific stones. I’ve found some that I think look great but can’t tell what is eye clean as they are magnified and all show inclusions.
Great! Thanks for the additional info.
I took a look and found these diamonds:
They match perfectly, all of them are eye-clean and will look very bright and brillliant..
Check them out and let me know what you think. The total with the setting comes to $9,952.
This looks fantastic and I actually spotted that center stone myself earlier today! Can you give me an alternative center stone that is larger but still eye clean at roughly the same budget? What are your thoughts a better quality smaller stone or larger and a little lower quality?
The center stone was the largest option I found. I can’t go much lower in clarity because I have to keep it eye-clan and properly cut.
I just wanted to thank you. I am just waiting to wire transfer info but have moved forward with the stones you suggested.
Great to hear that! I’m glad that I could help.
