Hi Gang.
Looking to buy a pair of diamond stud earrings for my wife. Looking to spend ~$3,000 and would appreciate thoughts on the best bang for buck options. Backing would be white gold/platinum, but would rather spend the money on the diamonds than the setting.
She has a princess cut engagement ring, but a round pendant necklace – and I imagine from a size perspective a round cut set of earrings will have the largest appearance.
You’re right, of all diamond shapes, round cut looks the largest thanks to the way its cut.
I found this perfect pair:

The diamonds have fantastic specs and would be very brilliant as earrings.
You can choose the setting here: Design Your Own Studs
Thank you for these – they look great. Mind sending me two more that I can compare against? And do you know how to add single diamonds into earing settings via the James Allen site? (It might require a call in since normally when you choose diamonds for earrings they pre-suggest pairs vs. the user inputting single diamonds).
Thank you so much for your help. BTW, the wife wears her necklace you helped with every day (never takes it off!).
Sure. Would you like to see something slightly bigger or smaller/cheaper?
Choosing two individual diamonds as earrings can be done via chat or call with the customer service. You either send them the links or you put the diamonds into your shopping cart and then tell them the order number.
I’m glad your wife is happy with her necklace 🙂 I hope the earrings will be just as big of a success!
Great – let’s try something slightly bigger. Let me know which you think would be the best value.
I found these two:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-10008066?a_aid=dmnd1357
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-10111950?a_aid=dmnd1357
They are slightly larger so it’s up to you if you want to go with this pair or with the one that suits your original budget.
Sadly, I waited too long and missed out on both sets (one from each sold!). Can you help find a replacement? I love the idea of something at the .65 carat weight per diamond (so 1.3 TCW – right in the middle of the two you sent).
…
What do you think of these two?
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.62-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-10053576?a_aid=dmnd1357
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.62-carat-i-color-vvs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-8192031?a_aid=dmnd1357
The pair that you found wouldn’t work since one of the diamonds is GIA and the other one is IGI. But here’s something that would look fantastic:
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.64-carat-i-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-10055107?a_aid=dmnd1357
www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.63-carat-i-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-10055108?a_aid=dmnd1357
They are gorgeously cut and will have a lot of added brilliance.
Those look awesome. Order sent. Thank you for your help!
That’s wonderful news!
