Hello, I wanted to get an engagement ring for my girlfriend.
My budget is between HKD50,000 and HKD55,000 (approx. USD6,400 to USD7,100), and I came up with this diamond on Blue Nile:

Personally, my order of preference would be carat weight > cut > color > clarity
I would love to hear your opinions on this diamond!

This diamond is not such a great choice. It has medium fluorescence which might give it a hazy/milky look in daylight. For diamonds with high color grades (G-D), it’s better to get only none or faint fluorescence to avoid the potential haziness.

I can see your recommended one has only faint florescence, but it has deeper color (G). Will this affect the look of the diamond much?
The color grade G looks absolutely colorless in most settings. It would look identical to higher grades. You’d have to inspect the diamonds in lab conditions to be able to see any color difference. That’s why I recommended it. I wouldn’t recommend a diamond that would look yellow when it shouldn’t.
