Hi, I’ve found your articles very useful and am about ready to buy an engagement ring. I think this one is a good value based on the “numbers”. But I don’t know how to judge the “sparkle” or whatever from the images.
I was just hoping to have you look and make sure there is not something that is a better option in this price/quality range.
Blue Nile LD13084259 – I wouldn’t recommend this stone because of the medium fluorescence. It might cause a hazy/milky look in daylight. But it’s nicely cut.
Could you please tell me what setting style and metal you’re planning to go with? Is there a reason you want to go that high on color and clarity?
I plan to set it as a solitaire in platinum.
My thought on the quality is that $20k feels like the right amount to spend. We don’t really like to “show off” though, so it feels like getting a superior quality stone of a smaller size seems like a good choice.

My point was that it’s not necessary to overpay for specs you won’t be able to see with your eyes. D/FL diamond is unnecessarily pricey. But it’s up to you what you prefer.
