My boyfriend and I have been searching engagement rings on James Allen. I have an idea of the style of ring that I like but would like support on finding the best diamond ring that is within a budget.
The budget that my boyfriend wants to spend on an engagement ring is $3,500-4,000.
I would like to get a solitaire round diamond ring.

For a simple solitaire setting like the one you chose, I’d recommend a J-color center stone. This color grade looks absolutely colorless when set as a solitaire (unless you are planning on adding a diamond band later?).

They have a beautiful cut and either of them would look amazing in the setting you like.
I do love those diamond rings. At some point, I do think I will want to change the diamond band. Would that make a difference in what you recommend for the diamond ring? If so, could you give me some ideas of what diamonds you’d recommend while remaining within the budget.
I want to be sure that I get a great quality diamond ring that has a shine and has great clarity.
J color looks colorless in a solitaire setting, but should there be additional diamonds next to it, it might show a yellow hue. I’d go at least one grade up, to an I, to ensure the colorless impression.

I found this absolutely gorgeous I SI1 that is eye-clean despite its low clarity grade. It has a great cut and would be very bright and brilliant.
