Your site is simply amazing, with so much useful information. I’ve been researching my diamond purchase for a while and I have narrowed down my choices to the following diamonds from JA. I’m wondering what are your thoughts on them?

https://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VVS2-Excellent-Cut-Round-Diamond-1509632.asp
Which one would you recommended or perhaps some other similar diamond? I plan to set it in a platinum ring setting.
Many thanks in advance.
Thanks for the kind words about the site!
The two stones you linked to will look great, but I think you can get better value going for a lower clarity. See my clarity article here: https://www.diamonds.pro/education/clarity/
If you take the difference you save going down to SI clarity and use it towards a superior cut, this will be your best option in my humble opinion:
The difference in size is not noticeable at all, but the difference in cut quality will be. Plus, you end up saving over $1000 in the process!
Ira, thank you for your reply and suggestion, that diamond really does look great!
However, before pulling the trigger I would like to explore one last option. A part of me is still wondering what it takes to get a diamond that’s 1.0 ct or more. I realize from reading your site that carat weight does not matter that much but then there’s still the psychological aspect of having a diamond of a certain weight. So with that in mind, what are your thoughts on the following 1.0 ct diamonds? (yes they are even more expensive than my first selections but still within the upper limits of my budget)

Thanks again, your insight is much appreciated.
Those are very nice for sure. This is also a nice one from BGD if you want to get the super idea for a close price: https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.004-I-VS2-Round-Diamond-AGS-104061000023
Or a better price from JA:

This BGD one looks really nice, I’m strongly inclined to get it (I put a hold on it). I do have one question though. They just put up a picture of the diamond and I noticed there seems to be a small “line” in the 5 o’clock area. Is that an inclusion? Do you think it is a concern?
Thank you very much in advance.
I think the BGD stone is awesome. Yes, that little line is the VS2 inclusion. There’s absolutely NO WAY you could see that with the naked eye. It’s way too thin.
Let me know what you decide to get!
I have decided to get it. I guess all I needed was that little bit of extra assurance before pulling the trigger. I really don’t know how to thank you enough for your tremendous help this past week, you’ve made my diamond purchase a lot less daunting.
Now begins the excruciating wait for it to ship 🙂
Once again, thank you times a million.
Great! Please do let me know what you think when it arrives!
The ring finally arrived and it looks spectacular. And you were absolutely right of course, the VS2 line is so tiny that’s it’s totally invisible to the naked eye. Now do I feel silly for worrying about it in the first place!
Once again, thank you so much for you help with my ring purchase!
Great! So glad to hear you love it! Do you think you could do us a huge favor? If you could leave us a review on ivouch, we’d be extremely grateful. Here’s a direct link if you have the time:
