Looking for a diamond to bring to my halo engagement ring. Currently looking at this diamond.
The diamond you chose is beautifully cut, but the strong fluorescence might be an issue. It usually causes a hazy/milky look on such a high color (it’s not possible to see it n a screen).

I’d recommend this one instead:
Blue Nile LD11041115
It’s eye-clean, well cut as well and will look very bright and brilliant.
What do you think?
I hadn’t even thought to look at the fluorescence thank you for bringing it up!
My pleasure. That’s why we’re here.
Looking forward to hearing which one you choose.
Before I go with the diamond you suggested, I have a question. How much a downgrade on brilliance is it from Blue Nile’s “Ideal” to Astor Ideal? I would really like to buy a diamond .45 – .50 carats that was right around $1500.
There is a difference in appearance, but it’s not huge. Will you see it? That’s tough to say. I can see a little difference but I saw thousands of diamonds in my career. If I was going to speak for most of the people out there, I’d say that you wouldn’t notice the difference.
Here is an alternative one that is a GIA excellent cut:
Just wanted to let you know that I ended up going with your first recommendation!
Thanks so much for your help!
