Hello,
I wanted to know if you can assist me! I am going to propose soon and have been combing over the internet for advice and reading a ton especially on your site.
The ring setting I provided below has mostly H-I pave stones. Would the H stone below fit color-wise with the platinum ring and those pave stones?
My budget for the stone is about $16k give or take and I want a 2 carat stone. Am I overspending on the H color? Or is that the right choice? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
I really like the setting you chose. It’s going to look beautiful.
As for the diamond, it’s not the best cut. Not all Excellent cuts are cut that well. Keep in mind that about 95% of all GIA diamonds get an excellent (80-85%) or very good cut rating, so the range of Ex cut grade is pretty wide.
With the setting you chose, you can easily go with an I color diamond. This one is a great contender:

It’s eye-clean, well cut and will look very bright and brilliant.
Can I ask a general question about fit? I measured my girlfriend’s ring size while she was sleeping 😂 with a ring sizer and a size 6 passed fairly easily over the knuckle and then fit well over the finger and then had some resistance to remove. Then I tried a size 5.5 and passed over the knuckle a little bit tighter and then on the ring finger sat better and then it was more difficult to remove. She told me she is a 5.5-6 in general. Should it be a snug fit or loose?
The diamond looks excellent. Great choice and I can definitely tell a difference now that you pointed it out. A little less expensive also. Looks like more bang for my buck overall. I will definitely go with that one! Thanks.
I’m glad you like that diamond!
As for the size, I’d say that 5.5 would be better (you don’t want her to lose it). However, if you get a 6 and it’s a bit too big on her, she can have it easily resized. Making a ring bigger (in case you get a 5.5 and it’s too small) is always more difficult than making it smaller. But talk to JA directly about it and they can guide you better I think.
Great, thank you for helping me!
It was my pleasure.
