I am looking to buy a ~3 carat emerald cut diamond. Based on recommendations, I should go I or better on color, and VS1 or better on clarity. Is this correct? Expecting to pay around 30K at James Allen.
What style setting (solitaire, pave/side stones/halo) and metal (yellow/white gold, platinum) do you want to use? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
We are looking at either a halo or side stone setting. It would be in platinum.
Great, thank you for the info. I color would be too low here, I’d go with at least an H to make sure the stone looks colorless in a platinum setting.

This diamond is well cut, eye-clean and will be very bright.
What do you think?
It’s about right. Thanks.
Great, I’m glad you like it.
