Hi,
I’m looking at the James Allen 14K Yellow Gold Twisted Pave Halo Engagement Ring and am hoping to get some recommendations on round lab created diamonds that would look great in this setting (I don’t care about resale value as much as purchase value).
I’d like a center diamond between .95-1.25 carats, with a price range of $1,700-$2,800. Sparkle/appeal to the eye in the setting is my highest priority (I’m not unique in this preference I’m sure). Based on my research on your site is seems like color wouldn’t need to be any higher than F given that I’d like a yellow gold setting.
The setting you selected is beautiful, I really like it. If the potential resale value is not that important to you, then a lab diamond would definitely be a better choice in terms of price/carat weight. Regarding the color grade, I’ll search in the I+ range and pick the best/largest stones I find.
Here are some great-looking options I found:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.38-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-9086367?a_aid=dmnd1357
They have a fantastic cut and no prominent inclusions. All of them would be very bright and brilliant in real life.
Thanks so much for these recommendations! They are all beautiful – I will need to do an in depth comparison before passing along to my boyfriend. If we go with one of your recommendations I’ll be sure to send you the email he uses. I’m not sure if he’ll be ordering this month or not.
How do you feel about SI1 clarity diamonds? There are a bunch that seem really reasonable given the size, like this one:
Some definitely don’t seem eye clean but this one seems nice, do you think this is eye clean or have any recommendations for ones that are? The idea of getting something that is 1.1-1.2 carats for under $2,000 is really appealing.
I’m glad you liked my recommendations.
I have nothing against SI diamonds (I actually searched in the SI-IF range), but the problem is that most of them are not eye-clean. This one https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.21-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-8585205?a_aid=dmnd1357 has a large black inclusion near the edge and it might end up reflecting throughout the whole diamond structure (you can see it in the video).
I dug a little deeper and I found this one:
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.16-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-8954089?a_aid=dmnd1357
and this one that’s slightly larger and the inclusion seems to be conveniently located:

Makes perfect sense thanks! That is why you’re the expert and not me…I saw that inclusion but didn’t notice that it could reflect through the whole diamond.
I will add the other 2 you suggested to my list! They look fantastic and I selfishly love that they are over a carat.
I’m happy I found those two, they are excellent options and the prices are great.
Let me know what you decided on.
I am too! I decided on the 1.16 carat!
Thanks again.
That’s fantastic news! I’m glad you found something you loved so much, I hope it will meet (or exceed) your expectations when you receive it.
