Hi,
Thanks for your amazing work.
I am planning to buy an engagement ring and I have narrowed my search down in Blue Nile (following your advice) to two ideal cut round diamonds. I would really appreciate some help from you to decide:
Blue Nile LD12557124
Blue Nile LD13232533
I am undecided because Option 1 is slightly larger but I worry that the better color rating is more important against a small size difference. Should I go with the larger option with better clarity or go with the slightly smaller one with better color and worst clarity since the clarity difference may not be visible to the eye anyway?
For the setting I am considering a solitaire in 14k white gold. My budget is roughly 2,000 euro.
For a simple solitaire setting (no additional diamonds in the band), I color is perfectly sufficient. Even a J color would still be fine. There’s no need to go as high as an H, you wouldn’t be able to see the difference anyway.
The I-color diamond you’ve chosen is an excellent option. You did a great job finding it!
Thanks so much for your advice. Unfortunately it turns out that now one of the options I had is no longer available. Following your advice I have now found slightly larger options by reducing the color grade to J. I would just like to verify with you, if possible, that these two options are considered “eye clean”.
Both of the newest options have strong blue fluorescence which I’m not really happy with. Strong fluorescence can sometimes cause a hazy/milky look. Since this can be recognizable in daylight and not on a screen, I avoid such diamonds as I can’t assure people if they will have that effect or not.

I found this slightly smaller option with no fluorescence that I think would be a much safer choice.
I have placed an order with the diamond you recommended. I want to thank you again for your invaluable help.
That’s great news! I’m glad you liked my recommendation so much, it was an excellent option.
