Thank you so much for this site- it is great and saved me from buying an EGL certifiied stone.
I am looking for a stone that is eye clean and rectangular ( 1.4- 1.6 or more) to set in a simple white gold ring with a buguette on either side. Thought of getting a stone above 0.7 carats. How much do you think i need to pay for such a stone. I was initially thinking of a budget of 2000-2500 – but if that bdget is too low then i can adjust upwards. Appreciate your advice and help in finding such a stone.
Thanks for the kind words. I’m not sure if this one will be eye clean or not, but it fits the bill otherwise:

You can have JA inspect the stone face to face to see if it’s eye clean or not.
Ditto on this:

This one will for sure be eye clean, though:

Let me know what you think!
Thanks so much. You are great! I think I am going with the second stone- the jamesallen agent said it was eye clean. ( the first was
not). But I do have a couple of questions.
The setting i have in mind is
1) The tapered baguettes in the ring are G-H and VS1-VS2. Will that work with a D SI2 center stone?
2) The wedding ring is a simple platinum ring – does it matter if the engagement ring is 14K white gold?
Sorry – question 2 is not about diamonds but just thought I’d ask ….
Thanks!
I am excited !
It’ll look awesome with the D SI2!
I’m not sure 100% about the 2nd question. My hunch is it’ll be OK, but you should ask the people at JA to be 100% sure.
Thanks for your reassurance on mixing the stones (diff colors). I saw on blogs how some others had problems with mismatched center stones.
Thanks again for your search and for the site in general – it is a difficult market to navigate. Since i am someone who does not believe
in “ignorance is bliss” -it was a challenge choosing a stone and setting. Your objectivity is mucho appreciated and a lifesaver.
My pleasure! Did you make a purchase yet? I’d love to hear what you went with in the end!
– just cleared my credit card- gonna buy it today !
thanks again
Great! Let me know how it goes!
I am afraid some unanticipated things came up and I delayed the ring purchase. I am ready to go now and luckily the stone you suggested is still available. I did one last quick look through again and came across this stone which is 270 dollars more.
It would be great to get your opinion if the new stone is worth the extra $270. Sorry its been a tough decision ! You advice is much
appreciated.

The original one i was going for that you found for me was

I am putting in a setting with sidestones G-H VS1 VS2 as seen below
If the D SI2 is indeed eye clean, then I think that’s definitely a better choice for you. Cheaper, and it’ll look better.
Thanks so much Ira. Much appreciated. !
