I am looking for an engagement solitaire ring and finding has been daunting task so far, so your advice is greatly appreciated. My budget on the diamond is $4800. Below is what I am looking for:
Shape: Round
Carat Weight: 0.9 – 1
Cut: Excellent
Color: around H
Clarity: VS2 – SI2
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Let me know and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
Thank you for responding.
The ring I am planning to get is white gold solitaire diamond 0.9 to 1 carat range. My budget is not huge (between 4000 – 4800), so I am looking for the best bang for the buck. After reading your Diamond Clarity Myths @ Truth (https://www.diamonds.pro/education/clarity/) article, I am very much interested on a similarly spec diamond. Thank you for your suggestions.
I would recommend this diamond for you:

It’s bright, eye-clean and right in your budget range. What do you think?
This is an excellent suggestion. It is within my budget, and it’s eye-clean. Since this is a J in color, would the yellowing be noticeable? I original thought of going with something a little smaller and H in color such as this one:

But, going to an H is not a huge benefit, then I would go with your suggestion
There is a little difference. If you are thinking of putting the diamond next to a diamond wedding band, or if you may ‘upgrade’ the setting at a later date to one with sidestones, its worth going for the H. Otherwise, stick with the J.
Went a head and brought the J stone. Thank you.
That’s great. Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
The ring looks wonderful, thank you
