Thanks for a great site. I’ve learned much and will hopefully save a lot of money by not paying for more than I can see.
I’m looking for a GIA or AGS oval diamond with the following qualifications:
– Color: H or better
– Clarity: VVS2 or better
– Carat: 1.25 or larger
– Cut Quality: excellent (GIA) or ideal (AGS)
– minimal bowtie effect
– budget: up to $12,500
The custom setting will be platinum with some additional diamonds. If it matters, my soon-to-be-fiancée wants the diamond placed sideways (across her finger) in the setting, rather than the traditional orientation.
If the above qualifications seem too strict, please let me know. I trust your expertise and experience over my ignorance. Thanks for your help.
I love this diamond for you:
The cut is fantastic, virtually no bow-tie, and it’s 100% eye-clean. It’s a fantastic buy. What do you think?
Thanks for responding so promptly, Mike. The diamond looks great. With a VS1, there won’t be any visible-to-the-naked-eye imperfections, right? Also, my fiancée and I are wondering if the jeweler who designs her setting will charge us more if we get a diamond elsewhere. What do you think? We appreciate the help.
The diamond is absolutely eye-clean.
I would also suggest contacting JA directly. They have a fantastic custom team as well.
