I’m looking at a diamond from JA and would like to get your opinion on the grading and whether you feel it’s a good buy. I’ve read your insight on diamond clarity and color grades, and keeping it in mind as I search for a round cut diamond around 1.25 cts for under $6K. Thank you for your help!
I currently have it on hold. It’s listed at $5,660 https://www.jamesallen.com/?q=199049#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-K-color-SI2-clarity-Good-cut-sku-199049?a_aid=dmnd1357
I also found another similar one https://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Round-cut/1.20-carat-J-color-VS2-clarity-sku-183097?a_aid=dmnd1357 and this one is listed at $5,700
A third one I put on hold was listed at $5,770 and is smaller, but with a better color rating. I’ve put in a request to have their gemologist check to make sure it’s eye-clean. https://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Round-cut/1.10-carat-H-color-SI2-clarity-Excellent-cut-sku-124851?a_aid=dmnd1357
Which would you recommend for me? The setting will be a simple white gold solitaire setting with no side stones. We plan to go with a simple white gold wedding band to go with it – perhaps a diamond band later down the road. Thank you so much for you help!
I actually love the H SI2 you selected. If you are thinking of going with a diamond band later on, it’s best to stick with H+ on the center diamond.
