I am looking for a round diamond to be set in a white gold solitaire setting (half bezel set style, if that matters). I have read the site and browsed James Allen. I understand the “eye clean” concept, but feel totally lost when trying to determine if an incusion will be visible when the stone is unmagnified. I would describe this stone as the “leader in the clubhouse” https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.79-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-196010?a_aid=dmnd1357 but I am open to suggestions. If there’s were an SI 1 or SI 2 stone that was eye clean that would allow me to go a little bigger, I would be interested. Also, do you know if James Allen still gives a small discount for purchases via wire transfer? If they do, I would increase my budget correspondingly. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.
To be honest, I think you found a winner on your own. The cut on that diamond is superb, it’s eye-clean and a great value. Even upping your budget a couple of bucks will not give you a bigger looking diamond. Just save the few bucks you get doing a wire transfer.
Thanks for the response. I spent a lot of time reading the site, so I am glad I learned the lessons. I placed the stone on hold and asked to have it evaluated by their gemologist, as much to get a second opinion as to buy a few extra days to finalize the funds. I appreciate your guidance, I’ll let you know if I buy it and how it looks.
Sounds great. Keep me posted.
