This search has left me thoroughly confused. It seems like there is a huge gap around this price/size point, and I can’t seem to find the perfect stone.
I’m looking to buy both stone and setting online, with about $400 for the ring (18K white gold) and $1600 for the diamond. G-J color, any clarity the is naked eye invisible, Ideal cut.
I would greatly appreciate any help!
Thank you!
I hope you had a nice weekend. Sorry if it took an extra day or so to get back to you, but I was away for the weekend. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Mike Fried, Ira’s partner. You can read about me on my profile page.
I’m not really sure what you mean by gap. I love this diamond for you:

It’s bright, eye-clean and a great value. What do you think?
Thank you for the response. By gap I meant that there are no diamonds of 0.65-ish size. A search at James Allen for example, for the color-cut-clarity ranges in question, jumps from 0.61 to 0.7 with no in between. Is there a reason for this? I’m trying to get the largest ideal cut diamond I can find, and since neither I nor my girlfriend know anything about diamonds, seems like only size and cut will make a difference.
Thank you again for the help!
Firstly there is no difference in noticeable size between a 0.60 and a 0.65ct. Read our posts on diamond size; the difference in diameter is nominal at best. Second, diamond cutters look to make the best cut possible while keeping the diamond within the highest weight range it can attain. Diamond prices increase exponentially when you hit 0.70ct or 0.60ct. So a cutter has a choice between cutting a slightly imperfect 0.70ct (say a VG cut) or an Excellent cut 0.65ct, only an idiot would cut down to the 0.65ct (unless they make a mistake which is rare).
So that is why you don’t see many diamonds in the 0.65ct range. Looking for something like that is a waste of time.
Sorry for the delayed reply, I had a few busy weeks and couldn’t reply. I just got the ring and it’s beautiful! Thank you for all the help!
