Q&A: Looking for 0.8-1 Ct. Round Cut

Hi, this website has helped me a lot learning about diamonds and what to look for. But I still think I need a little help. I am looking for a princess cut diamond. I want to stay around the $5000.00 mark for the whole engagement ring. I am pretty sure that I want to purchase my ring from James Allen, so if a solid diamond can be found on this site I would appreciate it. I am pretty sure I will choose this ring.

This leaves me around $3000 – $4000 Max for the actual diamond. I would like the diamond to be anywhere from .85 – 1.00 carats. I’m open to any other suggestions. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the response. I submitted a second submission yesterday after a few days of research and going to a local ring shop, and I decided I want to go with a round diamond. I am looking for a .80 – .1.00 carat round diamond in the $3300 and $3700. I am still planning on the same setting. I found this diamond that looks to be good value

It’s at the lowest end of the carat I am looking at at .80. If you see another diamond that is better around this carat, or maybe one that is a bit bigger, I would appreciate it. Sorry for the extra work.

A James Allen representative sent me these three diamonds listed below. I am trying to see if they can process a ring by the end of the week which is why I am doing more research before you reply. Even though the first True hearts selection is a bit more, it is really standing out to me. I am willing to spend a few hundred more for a better diamond, is this diamond as good as it looks? Thanks for the response. This is a diamond that was recommended by a JA representative. I did put it on hold in order to see if they can get the ring to me by friday or saturday, which I will find out tomorrow. This diamond is in their True Hearts selection. I read on your website that you don’t usually recommended these diamonds since they are probably more in cost than what is necessary. From what I am looking at, it looks to be close to $100 -$200 more than a comparable diamond. At this point I am ok with that, but if you could take a look at it to make sure it’s an eye clean diamond, I would appreciate it. I still have a chance to change it by tomorrow. Sounds great, I am going to go ahead with it. They can’t get it to me by the weekend, but I feel good knowing that I am getting a good diamond and deal. I knew nothing about diamonds a few weeks ago, and without your website and help I probably would have gone to a local Jeweler and either paid more, or received less of a diamond. Definitely has a lot of sparkle to it. I proposed last night and she loves the ring. I feel that I got an amazing ring without having to pay a ton for it. After going to a local Jeweler a couple weeks ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if I saved anywhere from $1000 – $2000 by buying it online with James Allen.
