Q&A: Looking for 1.2 Ct. Round Cut for Solitaire Setting

Firstly, great website. Very informative. I’m hoping you can help me spot a great diamond on the James Allen website.

Here are my details:
Solitaire Ring – Most likely Platinum but not 100% sold. Could go white gold. Setting is close to the Tiffany’s Solitaire style. So six prongs. Size J as well.
1.20-1.30 Carat
H Colour
Excellent Cut
VS2 – SI2 Eye Clean
GIA
Budget: 10-11K in total including setting. Note I’m in Australia so will have to add 15% for tax and duty.

I like the diamond you suggested. I think it’s a good fit for me. Yeah the one I sent has a dark cloud on the table and a darker line on the side. It’s hard for me to know what would be eye clean or not even with this vitual loupe. Do you have any methods to tell via the vitual loupe. A James Allen rep told me to zoom out to the actual size of the diamond and look. I’m not sure how accurate that’d actually be.

I’m keen on the diamond you suggested but there is one more thing on my mind. I am going back to America in mid November. If I import this diamond 60 days before I go back, I can reclaim most of the Australian taxes which would save me a far bit. So I’m just debating on buying now for waiting the four months. My girlfriend is going back with me but not at the same time so it would be a hassle to have to take the ring off her when I leave then give it back to her. Bloody Australian taxes! Maybe it’s not so great here after all.

If you come across some other diamonds that are similar to the one you suggested, please let me know. And I’ll let you know what I decide on.
