Q&A: Looking for 1.3 Ct. Round Cut

By Mike Fried,

Can you give us some advice on what 1.30 ct round diamond you would buy for a 4 prong platinum solitaire (cartier 1895 style) or a platinum solitaire with tapered baguettes on the side of the center stone (classic Harry Winston style) ?
looking for the best stone that would go with these classic settings at the best price ( 8000-9000 $)

Thanks for your answer.
Yes i really like the first stone better too, i think it looks cleaner than the 2nd one.

But I have also a question : when you look at a diamond which has exactly the same characteristics : gia certified, same carat, same cut, same color, same clarity: what makes the difference in price (sometimes more than 1000$ for a 1.30k stone).

The prices vary for several reasons. Eye-cleanliness is a big deal as do other characteristics (table/depth size, fluorescence). But the big difference would be the suppliers.
