I have been reading the reviews and have decided to ask your advice. I am looking for approx a 1.5 carat princess cut diamond. I have been online at James Allen and see a couple that catch my eye but im not sure what the best value diamond would be. My search criteria is the following…
Carat size = 1.40 – 1.60
Color = F and G
Clarity = VS1
Cut = Ideal
This range gave me two options,
1512188 and 1518444
With this restricted range, im thinking it may be too narrow and i can get a little larger but just as nice a diamond for about the same price if I open it up a bit?
I suggest checking out our posts on color and clarity (specifically, Ira’s video on the clarity page).
What is your ballpark budget?
I am budgeting approx $12k for the stone.
I have read the articles and watched the video previously and understand the message. For a princess cut, I should be looking for G-I, VS2 range? If so, what would you recommend? I guess my selections erred on the cautious side. Thanks for the assistance.
I hope you had a nice weekend.
I love this diamond for you. Its a beautiful diamond and excellent value.

Unfortunately that stone has been sold. Any other options? The online rep suggested these stones 1502150, 1442843 and 1456782
…….
I looked at the stones recommended by the rep with the loop and they seemed to have larger or more inclusions than the one you recommended.
I like this diamond for you:

Thanks Mike. I called JA and they also said this is a similar one to consider as well. I have both on hold and would like your opinion of them. They said 1520843 had better symmetry and color. I think i prefer the VS1 instead of SI1 though.

I don’t even think its close. I have actually never seen a recommendation from JA that I disagreed with until now. That diamond is not as square, much deeper, and the inclusions aren’t great. I would not recommend it at all.
Thanks for the prompt reply, I went ahead and ordered the stone you recommended. I appreciate the help and guidance you have provided during this process! You have made this experience much less intimidating!!
Our pleasure. Please let me know how it looks when it arrives.
