Thanks in advance!
That diamond is all sorts of bad. Is this diamond GIA certified? If not, then its even worse than I thought. If so, you still have the following problems.
1) Never buy a colorless diamond with fluorescence. The better the color, the worse fluorescence affects it (causing a hazy/milky look in most lighting that deadens the brilliance).
2) The table is way too big on that diamond.
3) If you read our posts on color and clarity, you will see how we think a D VVS1 is a terrible waste of money.
You are far better off with a well cut, no fluorescence F VS diamond than the diamond you are looking at. Look at this diamond:

It’s bright, well cut and eye-clean. It’s a far better diamond than the one you are looking at and its much cheaper. According to JA’s shipping calculator, this diamond is $25,844 Australian including GST and all duties. Its a better diamond than the one you are looking at without factoring price. Add on the 20% cheaper, and you are get far better bang for your buck.
Thank you for your reply.
And yes, it is GIA certified from BlueNile, and my partner and I would much prefer D grade.
But have change my mind and will go for the Round Cut instead of Princess Cut.
Would you recommend Bluenile vs James Allen?
Thanks again.
We are not fans of Blue Nile in general. We have had far better feedback about JA than BN.
If you switch to round you will be getting a larger looking diamond, but the carat weight will be less. Read our post on diamond size for an explanation. This is a diamond I’d recommend:

What do you think?
I’m not really a fan of diamonds that are lower than VVS2, but the diamond you showed me looks really good!
Our budget is $30,000 after custom taxes etc, so maybe we could go for a little bigger diamonds that are around $25,000?
Once a diamond is eye-clean, it’s eye-clean. It doesn’t matter if its VS2 or IF. That is why we recommend www.jamesallen.com the most.
Unfortunately I didn’t see any 1.60+ diamonds that were eye-clean in your budget range.
What do you think of this diamond?
It’s $29,950AUD, it’s within our budget and from Australia so we saved on taxes and such.
I seriously doubt that diamond is eye-clean (you can see on the cert that the inclusion is right in the middle). I saw several diamonds in the price range you were talking about, but they weren’t eye-clean. Here is an example:

What do you think about this one?

That one is beautiful, but it was over the price point you gave me. If you can stretch your budget, that is a winner.
