Dear Diamond Pro,
I’ve been saving money for almost a year now and I’m finally ready to buy an engagement ring for my girl friend. We’ve been together for 8 years this June and I’m really looking forward to telling her that I would like to spend the rest of my life with her! And for that I want to by a diamond ring.
My budget for the diamond is 2000-2500$ and I’m planning to put it in this ring: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/platinum-six-prong-knife-edged-solitaire-engagement-ring-handmade-item-2426?a_aid=dmnd1357.
Could you please help me find a diamond within this budget which is eye-clean, very sparkling and white looking? With respect to size I find the quality more inportant, but it should be at least 0.5 and preferably above 0.6.
By the way, thanks for providing me with excellent reading material during the last year…

I love that first diamond for you. Its bright, eye-clean and a great value. What do you think?
Thank you so much for the quick reply!
I do not know how this looks in the real world, but I find the diamonds closer to the hearts and arrows pattern to be very beautiful when magnified as they are on the webpages of James Allen. How much of this can you see with the naked eye? I find the second diamond you sent me closer to this pattern and hence more beautiful when magnified then the first one. Is there any sense in basing descisions on this or should I ignore this feature?
Also, there is a small possibility of getting this ring instead: https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/platinum-thin-french-cut-pave-set-diamond-engagement-ring-item-2018?a_aid=dmnd1357. Would these diamonds still be fine in that ring? I see that the color of the diamonds in the pave setting are a bit higher than I. But even more likely the ring will be accompanied by a ring like this after some time: https://www.jamesallen.com/wedding-rings/womens-diamond/platinum-0.26ct-pave-diamond-eternity-ring-item-1184?a_aid=dmnd1357. Is this a problem?

I’ve talked to my council of guideance and we’ve together ruled out the pave setting. So that is not an issue anymore..

I’m sorry to bother you again. I just talked to an employe at James Allen at their chat and she thought the diamonds you’ve found for me were very nice 🙂 I also discussed the thing with diamonds in a wedding ring and her opinion of this was that it does not mather that much as they are very small. This differs from your web page where you say that the main diamond should not be of “lower” color than the small diamonds, but maybe this was more aimed at 3-stone rings? If this is so, I would like to get one of the two first diamonds you found for me. I’ve put them both on hold until tomorrow…
So if you could respond with respect to the color issue and also about whether I should take into account this visual closeness to hearts and arrows cut as a feature, I would be very happy 🙂 And please do not take my rush of emails as a sign of you being to slow at responding, I perfectly understand that you respect your weekends, have other customers, need some time to pull of this amazing work you are doing and that we live in two completely different time zones.. 🙂
With diamonds in the pave or on the wedding band, I recommend I+ for the center diamond. All my recommendations still stand. If it were a halo setting, I’d recommend H color. But I is perfectly fine for you.
Great, thank you so much! Then I will go with the first one you proposed, the one you liked the most. Thank you so much for your help! I can really not express how much I appreciate it 🙂
You guys are lifesavers!
My pleasure. Let me know how it looks when it arrives.
