Hi, I am looking for a round diamond for a halo pave setting in platinum.
I am trying to get the biggest bang for my buck with a budget of ~$5,000 on the diamond, so maybe an SI2 eye-clean G-I color excellent cut. I would like it to be as big as possible (hopefully more towards the 1.2 ct range) but I don’t want to sacrifice light performance.
I’ve looked at settings from James Allen and Ritani. Thanks for the help!
As far as a halo goes, H+ is what we recommend to make sure it looks colorless compared to the tiny diamonds around it.
This is my recommendation from both sites:

https://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-0-90-Carat-H-color-GIA-certified/D-N6RSS5
They are well cut, eye-clean and either of them will be very brilliant.
What do you think?
Both of those diamonds look great. How much higher in price would we have to go to get a 1.1 or 1.2 ct diamond? Would it even be noticeably larger than a 1.0 ct?
It might be noticeable, but you’d have to put the two of them, unmounted, side by side.
This is the cheapest option I found in the 1.1+ range. It has nice specs, but I recommend running it by JA’s gemologists as the feather on the edge might be an issue.
I’m ready to buy now but it says the ring has sold. Would you be able to recommend another one in the 1.0-1.1 range with similar specs?
This is my recommendation now:

That looks great.
Also, I noticed this one had great specs but symmetry was listed as “very good” instead of excellent. Do you think that will affect the appearance?
Thanks again! Almost there!
“Very good” symmetry grade is fine, it will not affect the diamond in any negative way.
Thanks!
