Ran the following diamond through the AI robot and it was questionable. Any thoughts on this one?
The diamond is eye-clean (there’s only one inclusion on the edge and you can have it covered with a prong), but I wouldn’t recommend buying it without seeing the GIA report as well. You need to know what the cut parameters and clarity notes are. Can you request it and then forward it to me?
Attached is the GIA report.
Thank you. To be perfectly honest, the diamond is not such a great choice. It’s cut too deep and will look smaller and less brilliant. I’d skip it.
Ok, I assume if I find some more on James Allen website that I can send them to you?
Sure. I’m also happy to find some diamonds for you. Can you tell me what style setting you’re using? I want to make sure I recommend the right color grade for it.
I’m upgrading my wife’s existing diamond. Her ring is made of white gold and has a cathedral feature. Hopefully that is what you are looking for.
Ideal diamond criteria:
Cut – Excellent and above
Carat – 1.5 and above
Color – I and above
Clarity – Thinking SI1 and above, but maybe need to move that to VS2 and above. Probably most flexible on this one.
Price $7,000 – $9,000 range, but ultimately want the best deal possible
Yeah, that’s the info I need. Thanks!
I found the following options:
Blue Nile LD12418070

They are stretching the budget a bit, but I didn’t find any recommendable 1.5ct options for less. The one from Blue Nile is beautifully cut and will be eye-clean (the inclusion on the edge can be covered with a prong). The one from JA looks good on the video, but you need to ask for the certificate so that we can check the cut and clarity plot.
GIA Certificate from James Allen attached.
Thank you. It’s not so well cut as the Blue Nile one, but it’s not bad either. Would you like me to suggest some more options?
I think I like the Blue Nile one better.
Many thanks!
