Hello,
I am looking for a round diamond for a “vintage” (engravings on the sides) solitaire 14k yellow gold setting.
I’d like the max budget for the diamond to be around 10k dollars, but anything below that would be great!
For the specs the cut would have to be ideal and the clarity eye-clean (as well as GIA certified).
I think an “SI1” would be great. Since it is set in yellow gold, I think I could go for a “J” rather than an “I” in color, but am unsure.
Lastly, for size, anything from a 1.5-2.0ct, but I think it would be ideal to find something within the 1.65-1.80 range.

For the type of setting you want (no additional diamonds in the band), J color is perfectly fine. It is going to look colorless.
Regarding the clarity grade, there is no rule. You can find a great VS or VVS diamond that’s cheaper than an average SI. Most SI diamonds of that size are not eye-clean.
