I’m looking for a diamond to fit in a band similar to this (14K WHITE GOLD PETITE PAVE ENGAGEMENT RING (FLUSH FIT))
or this (Petite Micropavé Diamond Engagement Ring).
I’ve followed your guides and found this diamond (https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.83-carat-i-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-4901979?a_aid=dmnd1357) but want to be sure I’m not wasting money on something that isn’t noticeable. Appreciate your help!
…
Also found this diamond from Blue Nile (Blue Nile LD10972523). Just trying to get my girl the best I can afford! Thanks again for your help.
You picked beautiful diamonds. The BN one is a great value for what it is – VVS clarity. I also found this 0.80ct I VS1 for a bit less:

Your JA option is a bit too pricey. You can find a better value when you drop the clarity:

Even though it’s an SI1, there isn’t a visible inclusion.
All of those options will look incredibly brilliant and will be eye-clean.
What do you think of them?
Those are great finds! Is there any chance I could find something closer to 1 carat? I want to stay under $4,000 for the whole ring.
The biggest carat weight woudl be around 0.82ct to fit your budget and those diamonds aren’t bigger than the 0.80ct ones I sent before by much.

Thank you so much! So, we’re having a change of plans. Turns out she likes oval diamonds AND rose gold and she really wants something around 1 carat. I want to give her the best I can, but that means to get 1 carat I’m going to have to sacrifice on clarity or color. Can you help me find my best option?

I really love the first diamond you found. It looks perfect! I couldn’t find anything better.
I’m a bit skeptical about the J color in a rose gold setting, especially when there are additional diamonds in it. However, if you aren’t in a rush, give it a try. Worst case scenario, you’ll send it back and we’ll find you a new diamond.
The strong fluorescence on the oval might help the color a bit. It’s definitely worth a shot.
Should I look for an I color?
How does this one look?
I would personally go with an I color diamond. But some people are OK with the little hue that they can see in a lower color, so it’s always a big question what should each of our readers do.
The one you found would be my recommendation as well.

I’ll trust you! I think we can live with a .1 difference in carat weight. That doesn’t seem like a huge difference. Am I assuming correctly?
Yes. You would notice the difference only if you compare those two side by side. I don’t think you will ever do it in real life.
Great! Thank you!
My pleasure.
