I’m looking at a diamond for a halo ring setting on James allen. Here’s the link to the one I am viewing.
Any thoughts comments or concerns?
Unfortunately, I color is too low for a halo setting. The diamond would have a yellow hue compared to the smaller diamonds next to it. I wouldn’t go below an H to have the colorless impression. Do you want me to suggest some options?
I read your guys page and was thinking the same thing. I appreciate your help and wanted to give you some more details about what I’m looking for in a diamond.
I’m torn between a round and a princess cut. My gf doesn’t have a preference of shape she is more concerned with the size and setting. I care more about the diamonds brilliance. Ideally I would want something that appears big which is why I was thinking the round diamond might be best. I know they typically cost more but from what I’ve seen they appear bigger. The setting is gonna be a platinum halo pave setting.
My budget is around $7000.
You’re absolutely right. Round diamonds look the largest of all diamond shapes and are also the most brilliant. They tend to be slightly more expensive than other shapes, but you now know why.

I found this absolutely gorgeous diamond. It has a perfect cut and no visible inclusions. It’s going to have a lot of added brilliance and make a beautiful ring.
Thanks for your advice! I really the diamond you picked. My last question would be is am I getting a good value? Would it be wise to go a little smaller and save some money? And if I want smaller say to a 1 carat diamond would it be noticeable smaller?
…
I was under my budget with the diamond you picked so I pulled the trigger and went with that one.
I’m glad you liked my recommendations so much. It’s going to look slightly larger than a 1ct diamond and if it was under your budget, then it was an excellent choice.
