Hi.
I am looking at buying a diamond from an online retailer such as Blue Nile, but I don’t know where to have it set? Where do you recommend? I would like to have an oval cut diamond set in a simple rose gold band.
What price should I expect to pay?
Blue Nile will set the ring for you, you don’t need to worry about that.
You can choose the setting here: Rose Gold Engagement Rings
I’m happy to recommend some diamond options for you, can you just tell me your preferred carat weight?
I was looking for an oval cut diamond, around 1.4 to 1.5ct.
For example, I found the 2 stones below on BN.
Also, I understand that the L/W ratio is an important characteristic of oval diamonds. The stones below are ~1.39 and 1.34.
What are your thoughts?
Frankly, I’m not a huge fan of the diamonds you sent me. Blue Nile LD11648315 has an obvious bo-tie and Blue Nile LD12085368 has strong fluorescence which is a kiss of death on I+ diamonds, it usually causes haziness.
Thanks so much for the help.
Tbh, I have a budget of £10-12k. Obviously I would like to get the best value for money.
What do you recommend at this price point?
How do you feel about this one?
Blue Nile LD11714392
I didn’t find anything significantly larger for up to 12k, but this diamond is very nice and has a great price.
I think that’s really beautiful! I will keep that one on the short list.
What would a similar quality, but larger diamond cost? Around 1.8cts…
It would look like this:
Blue Nile LD12361897
That looks good.
My concern is that it’s a little too wide… L:W ratio at 1.34… what do you think?
This is entirely a matter of personal preferences. Different people have different tastes. Would something like this suit you better?
Blue Nile LD12340191
I know the price jumped up significantly, but this was the first recommendable option I found in the 1.80ct range that had the L:W ratio higher than 1.34.
Ok thanks. I have purchased the stone you recommended.
Thanks for the help
