Looking to buy an engagement ring. 18k yellow gold solitaire oval diamond ring preferably around 2ct.
After reading your article on ovals, I’m afraid I was about to spend too much money on diamond qualities that wouldn’t make a difference. I was looking at spending $20,000 on a ring, and after reading your article, I’m seeing I could get away with a lesser quality oval diamond at almost half the price? Is that true?
I was about to pull the trigger on an oval 2ct, F, VVS1 with a L/W ratio of 1.36. Is that overkill in quality?

What do you think of these alternatives?

I always suggest checking the actual measurements when comparing two or more diamonds.
All those stones look great, and are considerably cheaper, which is always appreciated as long as the visual appearance is still as stunning.
And why are you suggesting I check the actual dimensions when comparing? What dimensions, other than the L/W ratio, am I concerned with?
You should always check the actual measurements (mentioned on the JA website and in the cert too). The actual measurements of two 1.50ct stones may vary a lot (for example, a 1.5ct diamond with 60% depth will have more weight on the top, whereas a 1.5ct stone with 74% depth will have more of the diamond in the depth).
Thanks for all your help. I ordered one of your recommended today.
It was my pleasure helping you.
