Hope you are well. I have started researching diamonds and have my eye set on picking out an emerald cut to set in a simple solitaire.
I have picked a few from james allen and was hoping to get your thoughts, which one you believe to be best bang for buck, and if there are any on james allen that you particularly like that I should consider. I only really want to spend between 4-6k for the diamond.
Would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
I’m sorry for the delay in responding. I’m on a bit of holiday and not working at full speed. I’ll be back at full speed next week, but will be answering intermittently. If you still want my help, let me know. If you are planning on making a decision in the next week, please add that to your message.
Thanks for your response.
Yes I definitely would like your help!
I would like to make my decision as soon as possible, so if you can respond soon that would be fantastic.
I have selected a few diamonds below and just wanted to get your thoughts (Added a couple more since my last email). Ideally I would like to spend roughly 4-5k on a diamond maximum.
My main worry when looking at these (have looked at quite a bit of these) on the james allen website is the different patterns that this cut shows under light in the photos (i.e the black bits in the face up view). I’m not sure if its just the photos, or if because of quality of the cut. Would be great for you to show me what you believe to be the best cut in my price range.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Would greatly appreciate your thoughts
I love that 0.94 you selected. The 1.05 is a bit nicer, but I can’t imagine it’s worth spending that much more on it.
Thanks for your quick response.
How about these two. The 0.96 looks pretty clean from the video/zoomed in pic.
Not in a huge rush so happy to keep looking for other options!
Hope you are well.
Since we last spoke you recommended of the ones I selected the 0.94. I have picked another couple I just wanted to get your thoughts against the 0.94.
Also, I was hoping you could run your eye on James allen and see if there are any others that you recommend me look at…..my budget for the stone will be btn 3.5-5k, and wishing to set in a platinum or white gold soliatire.
I am in a good stage in my search so just want to be 1000% sure on my choice! your assistance will be greatly appreciated.[/question]
I still prefer the 0.94ct for its cut.
I had the three inspected by the gemologist…here were the results. what do you think? Given the price difference i’m thinking the 0.94 ($3540) is still a pretty good bet as its 35% cheaper than the 0.95 (4790) and 33% than the 1.03 (4720).
my main question Mike, if I were to increase my budget to around 4.5k do you think there are any ones that would be good value, i may be able to get a larger diamond for the increased budget…do you think you could suggest any?
I hope that you are having a great day! I just received the results from the gemologist for the three emerald cut diamonds and I am very excited to pass them your way.
When the gemologist pulled these three diamond, she noticed that the 0.95 carat-D-VS1 (diamond 215161) had the best light performance of the three. It is very well balanced and symmetrical throughout the entire diamond. It faces up eye clean, a bright, icy white color and is also a nice rectangular shape. The 0.94 carat-H-VVS1 (diamond 211913) and the 1.03 carat-G-VVS2 (diamond 216348) both offer very good light performance that is will balanced, they just weren’t performing as well as well as the 0.95. The 0.94 carat has a short rectangular outline while the 1.03 carat has a nice rectangular one. They both face up completely eye clean and are nice white colors.
You truly can’t go wrong with any of these three diamonds, however, given that the gemologist was very impressed with the 0.95 carat, that is the one that I would recommend moving forward with. It is truly a beautiful diamond that we know you will love when you see it for yourself.
I’m as objective an opinion as you are going to get on this. The fact that I am saying that I just don’t think it’s worth spending more, speaks volumes. JA would be a lot happier with us if I found you a more expensive diamond, but I think that 0.94 is as good of a choice as there is out there.
