Q&A: Looking for Fancy Light Yellow Diamond

By Mike Fried,

What an amazing site you have!

I’ve done a fair bit of research on yellow diamonds and leibish & co seems the best option.

I was hoping you could give me some feedback on a ring I’m looking at.
I really like this diamond: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/view_diamonds/9975.htm#a_aid=y  in this setting: http://www.fancydiamonds.net/view_diamonds/15228.htm#a_aid=y

As with everyone, I have reservations about buying online? Particularly after being told it’s too good to be true by jewelry retailers. However I love it and haven’t seen anything like this in Australia.

Many thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Ah, the great fear of Aussie jewelers. They just pray people can’t find this thing called google. Its true that most retailers around the world have had to cope with internet companies. They have much lower operating costs and can work on slimmer margins. That gap is accentuated when you compare Oz to the US. Generally speaking, Australia has one of the highest markups on consumer goods in the world. I lived there for two years and was shocked at how expensive everythng was (though Australians make more money as well). That holds true in the diamond industry as well. The markups they charge are obscene.

Yes, there are some websites that are scams and will screw you. But the same holds true with traditional retailers. Usually brick and mortar places are worse as they rarely offer a money back return policy. We have researched dozens of websites, and Leibish is the best site, by far, for fancy colors. They are the right people to be working with.

Many thanks for the very quick reply: it is so helpful to have independent advice!

So true about scare mongering, I was confident about leibish after reading your site and comments from happy customers on a range of forums but the brick and mortar retailers freaked me out.
I really appreciate the reaffirmation.

Have a fabulous day and thanks for the great work!

Please let me know how it goes with Leibish.

Thanks again for all your advice about leibish. They were excellent. Ring was made as per my request and the diamond was as described: gorgeous! It came out beautifully. They now have my ring as an example on their new website! https://www.leibish.com/rings-jewelry/closed-pave-side-stone-ring-setting-24765/?dyo#a_aid=y

leibish really is so much cheaper than stores in Australia and all with exceptional customer service.

I really appreciate your suggestions and encouragement. It’s a big relief with so many websites of unknown quality out there. I’ve spoken about your site to several people.

Thanks again and have a great day
