What are your thoughts on this diamond?
I have a $7K budget & found a ring on JA I like that costs $1K, so I have $6K budget for the diamond…..but if you think there are better choices, I’m all ears!

Sorry but I’m not a fan of that diamond.
1) I would not recommend a J color for princess cuts. https://www.diamonds.pro/education/color/
2) The cut is off in every way. The depth and table are too high (75% is the max for either of those) and it isn’t square (a big no-no for princess cuts).
This is a far better diamond for you:

JA said the same thing about that diamond I asked you about…..they recommended I actually go a bit samller for the same effect and said that this diamond had better dimensions – SKU – 194897……this diamond is $800 less than the 1.26 you recommended but with J color and VVS2 cut and the better dimensions/table (?). I didn’t think the color was that big a deal from ‘I to J’? JA thought this one would pop & shine nice – do you think the J color will make a difference?
I respectfully disagree. It’s a very nice diamond and I respect their opinion, but I would not get a J color. If you can afford the I, go for it.
