I’m currently looking for a ~1 carat round diamond in the price range of $6-7k (AUD).
Have done a bit of research and am currently happy with this one:
Classic Six-Claw Solitaire Engagement Ring
Do you think this is suitable? If not, where can I do better?
Thanks for all of your work, it’s greatly appreciated!
I suggest you read our post on clarity (Ira’s video on that page really highlights the point). Unfortunately with BN, you can’t drop in clarity because they don’t offer photos (as we explain thoroughly in our Blue Nile Review). But if you put this diamond side by side with the BN diamond, they would look identical:

There is no point in spending an extra thousand dollars on a diamond for nothing more than a paper upgrade.
What do you think?
Thank you so much for your response! I had a re-read of the articles again (they were very informative), I have spent hours on your site over the last week or so!
That diamond looks fantastic! I had a look at a few others, however, I don’t feel they are as suitable as the one you included in the link below.
Just a couple of quick questions:
– When the GIA report says ‘Additional twinning wisps are not shown. Surface graining is not shown.’, does this mean that the diamond is ‘eye-clean’ so to speak? I understand the ‘virtual loop’ was under a very high level of magnification.
Do you feel there any other factors I should consider, or reconsider? Your help and assistance has been invaluable so far.
If not, I think I would most definitely go with that diamond.
Many thanks again Mike.
The twinning wisps and surface graining were so inconsequential, that they don’t put it on the plot. You don’t have to worry about it at all.
