Thanks for all the information on your website, it has been very helpful! I am contacting you in hopes to get your assistance in picking out a loose diamond. I would like to stick to a GIA diamond as you believe they are most consistent with their evaluation of the diamond. Here are the specs I am looking for:
Size: 1.45 – 1.55 ct – I have heard that a diamond slightly less than the 1.5kt mark could be cheaper and that is ok with me
Color: H-J – as long as the ring is eye clean
Cut: Ideal – I would like the best cut as I want the diamond to sparkle
Clarity: VS1 – SI2 – I wouldn’t mind an inclusion as long as it would be able to be covered by a prong. Again, nothing visible to the naked eye.
My main goal is to get the best valued diamond that is “Eye Clean.” I don’t need a perfect diamond; I just want that “sparkle” in the light. I was hoping to stay around 10k but not sure if that is possible for a 1.5ct diamond. I look forward to your response.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Let me know and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
Hi Mike, thanks for your assistance. I will be placing round solitaire diamond on a white gold band.
Look forward to your response…
I love this diamond for you:

It’s bright, eye-clean and a great value. It’s right on budget. What do you think?
Thanks Mike, stone looks good. Will I be able to see any of those imperfections (twinning whisp, feather, crystal, cloud, needle) on the GIA report with a naked eye?
Could you also recommend a diamond with the same characteristics except at a size of 1.25ct. I still haven’t decided if 1.5 would be too big for a size 5 ring.
Thanks again for all your help!
That diamond is eye-clean (as is this one):

This is a far better deal. If you are worried about it being too big, why spend the extra money? Usually people are bending through hoops the other way. This will look great on a size 5 ring.
