Q&A: Looking for Round Cut for Simple Solitaire Setting

Me and my partner are looking to buy an engagement online, pretty scary. Wonder if you can help us out a bit on the selection. We both like a simple platinum setting (eg: Tiffany classic 6 prong knife edge setting). We have a budget of $4 – 4.5k.

Cut/polish/symetric: excellent
Color: the near colourless range
Clarity: around VS2 & SI1

Could you let us know what do you think as the best deal?

Thanks for the reply. We have been looking at JA. But if I can get some advice from you, that will be great!! We are thinking two options:

1. go with the 14k white gold setting, which left us around 4k to spend on diamond, or

2. go for the 6 prongs platinum setting, which will give us around 3 – 3.5k to spend

The diff in price is almost $900, not sure which one is value for money, or you can recommend something? Both of us do agree the brilliant of the diamond is the most important aspect for an engagement ring.
