I’ve been reading your site and appreciate all the honest information. My GF and I are looking for a round diamond around 1.5 ct preferably as colorless as possible. In order of importance we are looking for a diamond that is
1. around 1.5 ct round
2. colorless as possible
3. cut
4. clarity
Our budget is 10K but ideally we like to be out the door at that price including the setting. Would love to hear your expertise and any listings that might be good options.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).

That looks great! I showed it to my GF and it’s definitely under consideration. Another question we have is what do you think about getting a smaller diamond (at least 1.3 carat) that “looks” as big as a 1.51 because of the quality, or a bluer Brian Gavin diamond? Do you have any recommendations?
