I’ve got a budget of $3500 for the ring and diamond. I’ve been looking round and have almost decided on this setting:
I read on one of your responses that you think platinum is not worth the price, can you please tell me why you think this?
In terms of the diamond, I’m thinking an ideal/ excellent cut, 0.7 carat, G-I colour:

Which of these, if any, would you recommend? Or any other suggestion you have will be greatly appreciated.
I would go with this diamond for you:
It’s bright and will look great in the setting you selected. The inclusion is right on the edge and can easily be covered by a prong. What do you think?
Thanks for responding.
I do like that diamond but unfortunately it’s getting a bit out of my budget with the combination of the ring. Although with regards to my other question when you mentioned about white gold vs platinum, if the white gold was a viable option then I would be able to get that diamond. But I won’t want a ring that would lose colour and require re-polishing quickly and often.
What do you think?
1) White gold is a better choice. Yes, it needs to be ‘dipped’ every couple of years to retain its shine. That is a simple and cheap procedure. Platinum, on the other hand, scratches and dulls. You will need to replace it after 8-10 years.
2) You can cheat a bit on color, but if you can stretch it I’d stick with the original one. https://www.jamesallen.com/?a_aid=dmnd1357&chan=x#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-I-color-SI1-clarity-Excellent-cut-sku-184760
