Many thanks for all the information, it’s been really helpful. I am looking for an engagement ring.
My budget for the diamond is $2500. I’ve zeroed in on the two below because they are within my price range, vs1 (most likely to be eye clean), “decent” size and clarity.
What do you think? Other suggestions would be appreciated.
Many thanks for your help.
I’d be happy to make some recommendations and guide you through the process. What type of setting are you considering? Yellow gold or white gold/platinum? Will it be a solitaire or does it have sidestones/pave? This may affect the colors that I recommend for the center diamond (as we explain in our post on color).
Let me know and I’d be happy to send you some suggestions.
Many thanks for your reply. I should have been more specific. I am looking for a solitaire (because of the clean look) setting in white gold. The actual diamond should be a Round cut. Personally I prefer the Princess cut, but after reading about the tendencies to chip, smaller visual appearance, and possible inconsistencies in cut definition, I decided to go with the Round cut.
You can easily drop to an H SI1 and not notice the difference in quality. Then you can bump up in size significantly:
I love this diamond. It’s bright, eye-clean and a great value. What do you think?
Ahhh!!! This stone looks great. Unfortunately I ordered another one last night because D-Day is on Wednesday (https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.58-carat-g-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-105602?a_aid=dmnd1357). They’ve just emailed me to say that it is now in production. I will see if I can change it without moving up the delivery day. Many thanks for your help.
That is a nice diamond as well. I’d still go with the extra size, but they are both good choices.
